MIP: II Ukrainian Music Festival "Tvoia Kraina Fest" to Be Held in June-July
On 11 June 2019, the II All-Ukrainian Music Festival “Tvoia Kraina Fest,” to be held with the support of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine in seven Ukrainian towns June through July, was presented at the press centre of the Ukrinform news agency.
“For us, the key choice is frontline towns, where few events in support of the Ukrainian language are held. They include, among others, small towns with no cinema halls and low-quality concert halls, which Ukrainian musicians never visit. We want them to go there and show people how beautiful Ukrainian music is,” the State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Artem Bidenko, was quoted as saying.
On 15 June, the concert is set to take place in Korosten, the Zhytomyr region; on 19 June, in Chernihiv; on 22 June, in Sumy; on 25 June, on Shostka, the Sumy region; on 28 June, in Berdiansk, the Zaporizhzhia region; on 1 July, in Skadovsk, the Kherson region; on 4 July, in Chornomorsk, the Odesa region.
“In each town and city, only the coolest Ukrainian music will be heard,” Serhii Fomenko (Foma), frontman of the band “Mandry” and creative director of the festival, assured.
Valerii Kharchyshyn, frontman of the band “Druha Rika”, and Oleh Sobchuk, frontman of the band “SKAI”, promise a quality show and a lot of exciting music.
This year, the festival will feature performances by Foma and the band “Mandry,” the bands “Druha Rika”, “SKAI”, “Gypsy Lyre” and “Vasia Club”, Mariia Burmaka, Ivanka Chervinska, and Oksana Mukha.
“The last-year festival also took place in seven frontline towns. And in each town, we were waited for, and we saw that Ukrainian music was needed there,” said Mariia Burmaka, People’s Artist of Ukraine.
In August-September 2018, the “Tvoia Kraina Fest” festival took place in Izmail, the Odesa region; Henichesk, the Kherson region; Mariupol, the Donetsk region; Konotop the Sumy region; Mukachevo, the Zakarpattia region; in Novoselytsia, the Chernivtsi region; and Sarny, the Rivne region.
The key idea of the festival is to promote the Ukrainian language through quality modern music in towns which popular Ukrainian artists often miss out in their tours.
