MIP: Media School for Journalists from Donetsk, Luhansk Regions Launched in Kyiv
On 22 April 2019, a media school titled “New Media Instruments for Influencing Public Dialogue and Social Processes” for Donbas journalists started at the information hub of Ukrinform, a news agency. The school involves 20 people from the Donetsk region and 11 from the Luhansk region.
In particular, journalists came to Kyiv from the cities of Zolote, Lysychansk, Rubizhne, Sievierodonetsk and Starobilsk and the settlement of Troitske of the Luhansk region, and from the cities of Bakhmut, Mykolaiivka, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, and Pokrovsk of the Donetsk region.
The participants were welcomed by Emine Dzhaparova, the First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, and Victor Munteanu, the manager of UNDP’s Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme.
Ms Dzhaparova added that the Ministry supports the project within the framework of the implementation of the Strategy of Information Reintegration of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.
On 20-21 April, the media school events took place in Sievierodonetsk; in Kyiv, they will be held until April 26th.
The participants will acquire knowledge in the following areas: Media and UNDP – Key Approaches to Cooperation; Journalism and Its Influence on the Development of Civil Society; Video Recording and Its Types, Video Editing; An Interview: Preparing and Recording; Working with Sound and Titles; Media Context Analysis.
Organisationally, the event is supported by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Donetsk Youth Debate Centre, an NGO, and UNDP’s Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme (UNRPP).
