MIP, Google Ukraine Hold Open Workshop on Safer Internet Day
On 5 February 2019, on the Safe Internet Day, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and Google Ukraine held the open workshop “Google Digital Instruments and Resources for a Safer Internet.”
The First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Emine Dzhaparova, said at the event that the issue of digital security is as urgent as ever, in particular given Russian hybrid aggression.
“New threats are constantly emerging—as well as new safety instruments, and one has to be aware of them and improve their digital competence. Our workshop is aimed, first and foremost, at school teachers and university lecturers so that they will pass on this knowledge to schoolchildren and students,” Ms Dzhaparova said.
The speaker, Antonina Bukach, a Google for Education certified coach, held an online and offline training in the virtual room and analysed the given tasks with participants of the workshop live.
The Safer Internet Day was launched by SafeBorders, an EU project, in 2004. It is marked in EU countries on the second Tuesday in February of each year under the auspices of the Information Society and Media Directorate General of the European Commission. The Safer Internet Day seeks to promote a safer and more responsible use of mobile and online technology, in particular among children and youth.
In 2019, the Safer Internet Day was marked under the slogan "Together for a better internet." 130 countries joined their efforts with a view to positive change and raising awareness of online safety.
