MIP Presents Language Market, a Large-Scale Educational Festival

On 4 September 2018, a press conference titled “Presenting Language Market, a Large-Scale Educational Festival” was held at the press centre of Ukrinform, a news agency.

The festival, designed to promote foreign language learning, will take place in Khreshchatyk Street, in central Kyiv, on 15 September 2018. It is organised by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and Lingva.Skills Project at the initiative of the Students’ Council under MIP.

“In general, the festival aims to make Ukrainians better and smarter and to give them the opportunity to more often travel around the world and speak foreign languages freely,” the State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Artem Bidenko, was quoted as saying.

He stressed that Ukraine 360 Project, a spherical video about the most picturesque and interesting places of our country, will be presented at the festival.

Maryna Sobotiuk, the Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, said that the idea of the festival emerged at a meeting of the Students’ Council under MIP. “In order to establish international communication, the youth should be given appropriate opportunities to learn languages. That’s what this festival is for -- to provide good sources and encourage self-development,” she added.

According to Mariia Bohuslav, coordinator and co-founder of Lingva.Skills Project, the festival will feature many activities, including lectures, workshops, presentations of language schools, film screenings in foreign languages, a career fair, quests, contests, a concert, etc. The most attended English lesson to be recorded in the Book of Records of Ukraine is also planned to be achieved at Language Market.

In her turn, Sophia Rudanetska, coordinator of the Students’ Council under MIP, announced another grand event initiated by the Council -- UkraineSportFest, a sports festival.
