MIP Reports Results of Its Activity for First Six Months of 2018
On 30 August 2018, a reporting press conference of the leadership of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine on the results of its activity in January-June 2018 took place at the press centre of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Emine Dzhaparova, spoke about the Ministry’s work towards information reintegration of Crimea and Donbas, an important stage of which was the renewal of broadcasting of some Ukrainian TV channels and radio stations in occupied territories, as well as in the field of European integration.
“We work in accordance with the Ministry’s action plan and the Government’s action plan. All the work on occupied territories is carried out within the framework of two basic documents we drew up two years ago -- the Strategy of Information Reintegration of Crimea and the Strategy of Information Reintegration of Donbas. The Donbas Strategy has recently been approved by the Government, which adds to our opportunities,” she noted.
Dmytro Zolotukhin, the Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, outlined MIP’s key achievements in the field of implementing the Doctrine of Information Security, developing the strategic and crisis communications system. Among other things, he gave an example of effective resistance to information attacks during the Champions League Final in Kyiv.
“The work in the field of crisis communications in various state agencies, including law enforcement, has been audited. We are processing the information received and will soon put forward specific proposals and recommendations to neutralise crises in the information space,” the Deputy Minister was quoted as saying.
Among the Ministry’s achievements, MIP’s State Secretary, Artem Bidenko, named the development of the international broadcasting system, the approval of Ukraine NOW, a brand which is now being actively promoted in the international arena, and the implementation of more than 15 public social information campaigns, which encompassed practically all communication channels.
“We only plan to increase the amount of public social advertising, since it is one of the simplest technical means of shaping certain patterns of citizens’ behaviour -- ranging from marking national holidays and up to respecting road safety rules,” noted Mr Bidenko.
In her turn, Maryna Sobotiuk, the Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy, spoke about the promotion of the film Djakuyu in the world as well as projects designed to support Ukrainian servicemen.
“The international communication tool, the film Djakuyu, has received wards at three international festivals. In the autumn, it will be screened in Japan. And “Ukrainian Amazonians”, an ethnic fashion show on the occasion of the International Vyshyvanka Day, was commended as a most unusual event, which became a true holiday for servicewomen,” she added.
