Zolotukhin: What Is Important for Media Literacy Projects Is "Entertainment Component," "Wow Effect"
On 23 May 2019, the Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Dmytro Zolotukhin, took part in the inauguration of the interactive installation “Propagandarium” in Kramatorsk.
The Deputy Minister noted that “Propagandarium” is effective in terms of enhancing people’s critical thinking skills. “What is important for media literacy projects is the entertainment component and the wow effect,” he explained. Mr Zolotukhin added that more such events in the regions are necessary to improve Ukrainians’ resilience to disinformation.
The installation, an “obtrusive propaganda room,” shows the visitors that today media literacy is as important a skill as computer literacy. Located at Geek Bunker, “Propagandarium” is open on all days except Mondays, from 10:00am till 6:00pm, during 23 May—12 June.
The opening of the installation was attended by Ihor Stokoz, the deputy head of the regional state administration, and Volodymyr Yermolenko, director of European projects at Internews Ukraine, an NGO.
