MIP: Bidenko Presents Ukraine NOW Brand in Sweden
On 2-3 May 2019, an international conference “Public Diplomacy in Conflict: Nordic, Baltic and East European Perspectives” took place in Stockholm, Sweden, on the issues of the positioning of countries in political conflicts and various scenarios of development of economies against the backdrop of armed aggression.
The conference was attended by Artem Bidenko, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, who presented to the speakers Ukraine’s single brand, Ukraine NOW, at the first conference panel “Branding in Conflict,” and spoke of communication challenges being faced by Ukraine.
“Ukraine has faced a formidable challenge—to communicate the situation of war with Russia, a strong army that protects Europe from the aggressor in terms of public diplomacy; and, in the meantime, to present a safe country with reforms underway and human rights the highest value. Today, the government successfully makes use of those communication platforms, promoting reforms in Ukraine,” the State Secretary was quoted as saying.
In addition, the conference panel also discussed who social, ethnic and military conflicts affect the practice of branding, communications, and public diplomacy, and analysed the role of branding and the image of a country in inter-state conflicts and cases of the use of the media in such conflicts.
The conference was organised by Södertörn University together with the Swedish Institute, with support of the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES), NordForsk, and ReNEW.
Earlier, on 10 May 2018, the Government approved Ukraine NOW brand, designed by Ukraine-based Banda Agency within the framework of the Commission for Promotion of Ukraine under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
