As Part of MIP's Educational Projects, Meetings with Cherkasy Students Held
On 25-26 April 2019, students in Cherkasy met with Volodymyr Zhemchuhov, Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy and Hero of Ukraine, and Emine Dzhaparova, the First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine.
The meetings were held within the framework of the educational project “Prisoners of the Kremlin”, aimed at national and patriotic education of young people.
On April 25th, Mr Zhemchuhov and Ms Dzhaparova spoke at a press conference held at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, and talked to its students. That same day, they also met with cadets of the Institute of Fire Safety named after Heroes of Chornobyl.
On April 26th, they met with students of Cherkasy State Technological University.
Mr Zhemchuhov spoke of how he organised the resistance movement in the occupied territories of the Luhansk region, how he was captured, and how Russian security services tried to force him to kneel before propaganda news media. “I lost my health by then. But I had to preserve my honour,” he said to the students.
Ms Dzhaparova told the students her memories of the beginning of Crimean annexation, and spoke about the fight of the Crimean Tatar people with the occupants.
“Prisoners of the Kremlin”, a film produced by UA/TV international broadcasting channel by the order of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, was presented to the students.
At the end of the meetings, the participants were given information materials produced with the Ministry’s support.
