BREAKING: Statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Regarding Adoption of UN General Assembly Resolution “Militarisation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, Ukraine, as Well as Parts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov”
The adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution “Militarisation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine, as well as parts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov” on 17 December 2018 affirmed the clear stance of the international community regarding the support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the condemnation of Russian aggression.
In spite of Russia’s desperate attempts to prevent the instrument from being adopted, the UN General Assembly yet again condemned the temporary occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by the Russian Federation as an aggressor State and sent a clear message of non-recognising the attempts of its annexation. The Russian Federation must withdraw its armed forces from Crimea and immediately cease the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territory.
