MIP Participates in International Conference "We Were Killed, For We Were Ukrainians" in Lisbon
On 12 October 2018, an international conference “We Were Killed, For We Were Ukrainians”, organised at the initiative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Portugal, took place in Lisbon.
Sophia Dzhurynska, Chief Specialist of the Sector for Promotion of Ukraine in the World of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, took part in the conference.
“In 2018, Ukraine marks the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor. The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine contributes to the distribution of public social adverts and printed matter so that Ukrainians and the civilized world know remember and recognise this crime against humanity,” Ms Dzhurynska was quoted as saying.
The conference was also attended by Inna Ohnivets, Ambassador of Ukraine to Portugal; Ricardo Bexiga, Chairman of the Ukraine-Portugal Friendship Parliamentary Group; Larysa Dir, Head of the Department for Foreign Ukrainians and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Yuriy Balaniuk, Chairman of the Board at the Vasyl Stus ”Memorial”; Aline Gallasch-Hall de Beuvink, an MP at the Lisbon City Council; Pavlo Sadokha, Chairman of the Community of Ukrainians in Portugal; and others.
In the evening on 12 October, the film “Cyborgs” was screened in a Lisbon cinema hall, which was organised with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Portugal.
Earlier, on 2 March 2017, the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal adopted the resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-33 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
