MIP: Record Achieved of Non-Stop Ukrainian Poetry Reading
On 13 June 2018, an All-Ukrainian record of non-stop Ukrainian poetry reading, organized by the Students’ Council under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, was documented at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
In order to set the record, Ukrainian students took it in turns to read Ukrainian poems non-stop during six days, from 7 to 13 June. The National University of Ostroh Academy, Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky Hryhoriy Skovoroda State Pedagogical Universit, Poltava National Technical University, Donetsk State University of Management, Lviv National Agrarian University, and the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv took part in the record.
“This record ushers in the Year of Promotion of the Ukrainian Language. This will be followed up with radio programmes, cartoons about learning Ukrainian, a film for students, and objects of art, which will be the basis for an ABC book,” the Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine on International Communication, Maryna Sobotiuk, was quoted as saying.
The initiative to achieve the record belongs to the Ostroh Academy. “As a member of the Students’ Council under MIP, I suggested an idea, and the Council supported it. Throughout the day and night, students of six universities read poems in Ukrainian. And we managed to achieve a new record!” the student Oleksandra Vako said.
The record was documented by representatives of the Book of Records of Ukraine together with the students and lecturers.
Earlier, on 31 March 2018, an All-Ukrainian record of the number of postcards written for members of the Ukrainian diaspora was achieved within the framework of the meeting of the Students' Council under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
