Dzhaparova Discusses Technical Assistance Provision with U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors Deputy Director
On 22 May 2018, Emine Dzhaparova, the First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, met with Jeffrey Trimble, Deputy Director of the U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors, and representatives of the Ukrainian Bureau at the U.S. Department of State responsible for strategic communications, international broadcasting and public diplomacy.
Ms Dzhaparova spoke about the work of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine in the field of information reintegration of Crimea and Donbas and fight against dissemination of Russian disinformation. In addition, the sides touched upon the issue of implementing infrastructure projects relating to broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels in occupied territories and U.S. continued assistance in combatting information attacks against the backdrop of Russia’s hybrid warfare.
“The restoration of Ukrainian broadcasting in occupied territories, support for the media with specialized content, such as the Radio.Svoboda (Radio Liberty) project ‘Krym.Realii’ (Crimea.Realities), the establishment of a content hub, provision of technical assistance – all this is on the agenda of Ukraine-U.S. relationships,” the First Deputy Minister was quoted as saying.
The Broadcasting Board of Governors is a U.S. independent governmental agency which supervises Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, etc.
