May 17th, Day of Your Vyshyvanka
Within the framework of strengthening national unity, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine presents the communication campaign on the occasion of the International Vyshyvanka Day, entitled ‘The Day of Your Vyshyvanka’.
The International Vyshyvanka Day is an international holiday dedicated to preserving century-long national traditions of creating and wearing embroidered ethnic Ukrainian clothes, which is marked on the third Thursday in May each year. The holiday is authentic and self-existent and is not tied to any national or religious celebration. On this day, everyone who wants to do so can participate by wearing a vyshyvanka at work, university, school, or a kindergarten.
The communication campaign includes three thematic videos under the banner ‘The Day of Your Vyshyvanka’, which is broadcast on national and regional channels as public social adverts. In addition, thematic stories are supposed to be placed on outdoor advertising media, including boards and citylights, all over the country.
Also, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine together with the NGO Vsesvitnii Den' Vyshyvanky has launched a communication campaign titled 'Zvidky Tvoia' ('Where Does Your One Come From'). Thematic boards, metrolights, and posters in metro trains have been distributed.
