Dzhaparova Meets With Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Wess Mitchell
On 2 May 2018, Ukrainian high-ranking officials met with Wess Mitchell, Assistant Secretary of State of the U.S. for European and Eurasian Affairs. The event was also attended by the First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Emine Dzhaparova.
“Wess Mitchell is one of the leading ‘advocates of Ukraine’ at the State Department. One of the key issues during the meeting was Crimea’s de-occupation. And we count much on the continuance and severance of U.S. stringent action against Russia. Everyone understands well that you cannot tango on with the aggressor,” Ms Dzhaparova noted.
The discussion also touched upon the issue of national security, the liberation of the Kremlin’s political prisoners, the renewal of the Central Elections Commission, fight against corruption, the resumption of the Ukraine-NATO Commission, etc.
The Ukrainian side was represented by Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and Hanna Hopko, Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Ms Dzhaparova presented Mr Mitchell with the English copy of KrymNash. A History of the Russian Myth, a book by Crimean historian Serhiy Hromenko which had been published with the support of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
