MIP: Film Djakuyu Awarded Second Place at International Film Festival in Riga
Djakuyu, a short feature film produced by the order of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, was awarded the second place in the ‘Tourism Destination – Region’ nomination at the 11th International Tourism Film Festival ‘Tourfilm Riga 2018’ in Riga, Latvia.
The film crew received the award. More than 500 films had been submitted to the festival, of which 220 had passed the selection stage. The winners were announce at the ceremony on 27 April 2018 after being assessed by the professional jury.
“The creative film about Ukraine through the eyes of a Japanese tourist continues its victorious travel around international film festivals. The competent jury chose it among hundreds of films from all over the world, which again highlights that there’s a demand on Ukraine abroad, and we are on the right track,” Yuriy Stets, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, was quoted as saying.
Earliaer, Djakuyu had been admitted to international festivals in Tokyo (Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival 2018) and Riga (International Tourism Film Festival "Tourfilm Riga"). The film has been submitted to 100 festivals all around the world in total.
In April, Djakuyu had won the ‘best editing’ nomination at the Romania-based monthly international film festival Short to the point.
The short feature film shows Ukraine through the eyes of a Japanese tourist as an interesting, hospitable, and unique country with breathtaking landscapes and rich history. The film was produced by the Best Friends Film company to the order of MIP and has already been presented in Tokyo, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Ostroh, and Lviv.
