Zolotukhin: Strengthening Cybersecurity Dependent on Development of Education in the Field
On 26 April 2018, a scientific round table ‘Cybersecurity Within the System of National Security of Ukraine: Key Areas of Development’ was held at Mariupol State University. The round table, co-organized by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, was aimed at discussing exigent threats and seeking new opportunities to ensure cybersecurity as part of Ukraine’s national security system.
During the round table, the discussion touched upon the issues of the key areas of the development of the national cybersecurity system, of cyberthreats to information infrastructure and suppressing them, as well as of the peculiarities of the training of experts in the field.
The Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Dmytro Zolotukhin, made a speech on information security and noted: “One of the main vulnerabilities of the cybersecurity system, in particular as part of national security, is the human factor. In order to strengthen the system’s resilience, increasing computer literacy and developing education in this field is necessary. It is why training cybersecurity specialist requires considerable attention and joint efforts.”
Within the framework of his visit to Mariupol, the Deputy Minister also participated in the opening of the university laboratory of the Cybersecurity major at Mariupol State University and met with heads of departments of the National Police office in order to discuss the issue of the development of the strategic communications system in law enforcement agencies.
The scientific round table ‘Cybersecurity Within the System of National Security of Ukraine: Key Areas of Development’ was co-organized by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the Mariupol City Council, the Field Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, the Field Office of the National Police of Ukraine in Donetsk Region, the Donetsk Cybersecurity Office of the Department of Cyber Police of the National Police of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Vasyl' Stus Donetsk National University, the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, and Mariupol State University.
