Deputy Minister of Information Policy Tetiana Popova Participates in Press Conference Dedicated to Vyshyvanka Day
A press conference dedicated to Vyshyvanka Day was held on April 21 under the auspice of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
Vyshyvanka Day is flash mob holiday that units Ukrainians regardless of their gender, social status, religious beliefs or political opinions. The holiday is an original and self-sufficient one, which is not attached to any public holiday or feast day. The purpose is to preserve ancestral folk traditions of creating and wearing ethnic embroidered clothes.
On May 21, holiday organizers urge Ukrainians to wear vyshyvankas (embroidered clothes) and take part in the All-Ukrainian campaign "Give Vyshyvanka to Defender". It is planned to pass vyshyvankas to combatants at the front line with the help of volunteers so they could serve as their amulets. The campaign is aimed at raising the morale of Ukrainian combatants in the ATO area.
"We support interesting initiatives of NGOs like this one. We will help in placing promotional materials and provide informational support of this day. The "Give Vyshyvanka to Defender" campaign is very symbolic and socially important one. Our defenders must feel our support. We believe our amulet vyshyvankas will inspire them and fill with strength and faith in victory", Tetiana Popova noted.
