MIP in ATO Zone: In Mykhailove Village Council, Nearly Ten Ukrainian Channels, T2 Digital Television Available
The Monitoring Mission of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine has analyzed television and radio broadcasting in Mykhailove Village Council of Oleksandrivka District, Donetsk Region.
“In Mykhailove Village Council, nearly ten Ukrainian TV channels are available. T2 digital television works fine,” reports Oleksandr Bryhynets, the Adviser to the Minister on Broadcasting Renewal in the ATO Zone and Ukraine’s MP, who heads the Mission.
Tetiana Slostina, the secretary of Mykhailove Village Council, said that after the collapse of the TV tower during the fight for the liberation of Sloviansk in 2014, there was an ‘information catastrophe’ in the village, and only satellite television was available. “After the tower was rebuilt, the situation changed drastically. Analogue television works well. The villagers have begun installing T2 digital television, which has become available. Now one fifth of the households watch digital television,” Slostina said.
It should be noted that during two years of the work of the Commission on Ensuring the Stable Broadcasting of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting System of Ukraine, three television towers have been constructed: in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast (5 December 2016), in Chonhar, Kherson Oblast (17 March 2017), and in Bakhmutivka, Luhansk Oblast (22 August 2017).
