Zolotukhin: Democratic Society Means Individual Responsibility for One’s Own Information Security
On 2 February 2018, Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Dmytro Zolotukhin gave a public lecture ‘Introducing Media Literacy and Information Security Technologies in the Educational System’ at Poltava Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education named after M.V. Ostrogradsky.
In the course of the lecture, Dmytro Zolotukhin outlined the features of modern information space, including fakes and disinformation, manipulative and uncontrolled nature of some processes. “The democratic society means, in particular, individual responsibility for one’s own information security. Only a media-literate person can tackle the challenges of the information era. Media literacy envisions the ability to make own judgements on who creates and disseminates information and for what purpose they do it. It is therefore necessary that school teach our children this competence,” the Deputy Minister noted.
The event was also attended by representatives of educational institutions, school education specialists and psychologists.
