MIP Becomes PEN International Congress Partner
For the first time in Ukraine, the 83th PEN International Congress attended by writers and intellectuals all over the world, takes place from 18-22 September.
In particular, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine has become the partner of the event.
On September 22, the public discussion named “Asserting the Truth in Propaganda Times” took place with the participation of State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine Artem Bidenko, also featuring Jennifer Clement (Mexica, President of PEN International), Paul Auster (the U.S.), David Patrikarakos (the U.K.) and moderated by Margie Orford (South Africa).
In his speech, Artem Bidenko spoke of the key areas of the activity of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
“Freedom of speech and support of journalist are the highest values for us. Thus in our work we have opted for the truth as the best counterpropaganda,” he noted.
Bidenko also stressed the cooperation of the Ministry with volunteer movements fighting disinformation, such as InformNapalm, StopFake, StopTeror, expressing the gratitude to them in the course of the event.
Pending the Congress, MIP also communicated with the delegates on freedom of speech in Ukraine and distributed information materials among the participants, including “20 Facts of Russia’s Intervention”, “Defending the Rights of Journalists in Ukraine”, “Suppressors of Freedom”, “Marionettes of the Kremlin”, all of them in the English and Ukrainian languages.
