On the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, MIP Carries Out National Communication Campaign
On August 8, a press conference titled "Celebrating the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples", organized by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, took place at the Ukrinform news agency.
First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova stated that MIP would carry out a national communication campaign as part of the International day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on August 9.
"It is the second year in a row that we are systemically raising this topic, trying to speak to the public on who the Crimean Tatars, the Karaites, and the Krymchaks are, of which there are few.
We explain that they are the peoples on which the immediate action needs to be taken to just physically preserve them," said Dzhaparova.
In turn, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov believes our country cannot afford to adjourn the issue of returning Crimea.
"I draw on the fact that the draft law drawn up by the working group and already fine-tuned by experts will be reviewed at the session due to open in early September.
"I would really rather we had the law on indigenous peoples passed here in Ukraine," said Chubarov.
In his opinion, the adoption of the law on indigenous peoples will add to the strengthening of Ukrainian sovereignty.
It is noted that MIP has already prepared and placed 50 billboards and 50 citylights with makeups concerning the "Three Peoples, One Root" topic.
In addition, a video clip, which was given the status of a social public ad and handed on to Ukrainian TV channels for broadcasting, was produced. A longer version of the clip is available in a number of Internet resources and the social media for everyone willing to see.
The thematic video clip and the makeups will also be circulated to Ukrainian embassies and public authorities.
Please be reminded that "Qırım akşami" ("Crimean Evening"), a cultural event as part of the implementation of the Crimean Tatar public diplomacy project carried out by MIP, takes place on August 9 at 7:00 p.m.
Apart from a concert of Crimean Tatar songs and dances, the guests will be offered an exhibition highlighting the ethnogeny, history and culture of the Crimean Tatar people (in English) prepared by the Estonian Institute of Human Rights, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The press conference was attended by Refat Chubarov, people's deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people; Emine Dzhaparova, First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine; Yulia Tyshchenko, Head of the Council, Head of the Democratic Processes Support Program of the Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research.
