MIP's Congradulations on the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples
The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine congratulates you on the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples!
First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova noted today that, since 2014, Ukraine had been demonstrating a democratic practice toward its indigenous peoples – the Karaites, the Krymchaks, and the Crimean Tatars – by acceding to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (together with Canada), a move highly welcomed by the world!"
Today, we would like to pay tribute to all cultures of the world and give particular thanks to representatives of Ukraine's indigenous peoples – the Crimean Tatars, the Krymchaks and the Karaites, for their contribution to the development of Ukrainian authentic culture and for their joint struggle for European values and a democratic future.
On this day, we would also wish to recall the difficulties the indigenous peoples of Ukraine are facing now in the occupied Crimean Peninsula: violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, murders, abductions, political violence, legal lynching, searches of homes and mosques, illegal fines and interrogations, prohibition of free movement, restriction on studying the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages, etc.
We believe that only through joint non-violence fight we will be able to overcome all the difficulties on our way!
