Reintegration of Donbas Can't Be Only at State Level, Civil Society Bears Important Role, Says Kazdobina

On June 26, a press conference " Strategy and Tactics of Cultural and Awareness Activities in Donbas", organized by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and NGO "Tavria Humanitarian Platform", was held.

During the event, Yulia Kazdobina, Adviser to the Minister on the Information Reintegration of Crimea, noted that establishing cooperation with the civil society was one of the priority areas of the Ministry's work.

"We're glad to provide information support to public initiatives working on the cultural reintegration of Donbas.

"Reconciliation and reintegration can't be only at the state level, so the civil society bears an important role. The activity of Ukrainian citizens towards this leaves no doubt Ukrainians understand it quite well", Kazdobina added.

Maksym Potapchuk, Head of NGO "Ukrainian foundation for culture and education "Liberi Liberati", Kramatorsk, stressed that now there was a greater need for artists, activists, actors, who would talk to schoolers and manage informal education.

Among the most urgent topics for awareness-raising activities, according to Yuriy Kosenko, President of NGO "Ukrainian Initiative", are decommunization and the history of Ukrainian Donbas.

"Yet another topic is the exposure of Russian and Soviet myths of World War II, of particular interest is the coverage of cultural figures, writers, public figures and so on born in Donbas," Kosenko added.

The participants of the event were as follows: Yuriy Kosenko, President of NGO "Ukrainian Initiative"; Maksym Potapchuk, Head of NGO "Ukrainian foundation for culture and education "Liberi Liberati"; Svitlana Kravchenko, Board Member of NGO "Bakhmut Ukrainian"; Viktor Vlasko, Head of the Affiliate of NGO "Ukrainian Initiative" in Ichnia, Chernihiv Oblast; Yulia Kazdobina, Adviser to the Minister on the Information Reintegration of Crimea; Andriy Ivanets, Coordinator of "Tavria Humanitarian Platform".
