Yurii Stets to students: "Educated Ukrainian youth should work here, rather than abroad»
On 9 March at the Institute of international relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv took place the meeting of the Minister of information policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets with the students majoring in "international communication" with participation of the Director of the IIR Valerii Kopiika, the Head of the Chair of International Media Communications and Communication Technologies IIR, the co-chair of the Expert Council under the MIP Serhiy Danylenko.
During the meeting, the Minister discussed with students the new doctrine of the information security of Ukraine and the delicate balance between freedom of speech and censorship. During the long debate, students concluded that Ukraine required some control of the information space, in view of the hybrid aggression from Russia and the examples of the world's leading countries.
According to Stets, the Doctrine of information security of Ukraine is actually designed to resolve this complex issue by providing the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine with new regulatory functions and laying the foundations of forming a transparent and objective monitoring mechanism. The Minister thanked students of IIR, who are members of the Student Council under the MIP, for participation in discussion of the Doctrine and for making constructive and innovative proposals and ideas about the Ministry's activities.
He noted that it is very important to attract young people to the formation of public policy, because it is them, who will implement it in the future: "Educated Ukrainian youth should work here, rather than abroad".
The Director of the IIR Valerii Kopiika said: "For us, as for the Institute, it is important that students got into the practical field of action". According to him, only with MIP the Institute has the most active cooperation among the relevant ministries in the involving of students. At the end of the meeting, the Minister presented to members of the student Council under the MIP gratitude for the support of information sovereignty of Ukraine, the principled position in the protection of national security, and hard work in the interest of freedom of speech and thought.
Recall, that the Student Council under the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine is a deliberative authority, which was founded in April 2016. The Council consists of 12 students majoring in "International information" of the Institute of international relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
