MIP: Priority areas for cooperation are identified at the meeting with the Ambassador of Norway

7 March 2017, held a meeting of Minister of information policy of Ukraine Yuri Stets with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Norway in Ukraine Ole T. Horpestad featuring a member of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine Serhiy Kostynskiy and the State Secretary of the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine Artem Bidenko. The Norwegian side was represented by the First Secretary Sigbjorn Litland.

Minister of information policy of Ukraine Yuriy Stets during the meeting, told about the main directions and key values of the Ministry's work, which are a protection of freedom of speech and complete transparency. "We have a young team that didn't come here for the chairs, but for the purpose of performing specific tasks - the reform of the international broadcasting system, the restoration of Ukrainian broadcasting, protection of the journalist's rights, and reform of government communications".

Serhiy Kostynskiy, taking into account the latest results of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, offered to increase cooperation on the exchange of information and collaborative filmmaking. "The Ukrainian market is open as never before for the Norwegian TV channels and tele-radio content. But one of the most promising areas of cooperation between two countries is the joint production of films and TV series".

The Ambassador agreed that there is a potential for greater cooperation in this area and that we need to raise awareness in the industry of the possibilities that exist. The Embassy and Ministry agreed to continue this dialogue to see how best to facilitate such awareness-raising and matchmaking.

 At the end of the meeting, the Minister asked Mr. Horpestad to provide information about the transition of Norway to digital broadcasting. "If your country will install new equipment and could be able to transfer analog transmitters to Ukraine, it would be a very big help for us in the issue of resuming broadcasting", - said the Minister. The Ambassador promised to look into the matter.
