Emine Dzhaparova: "MIP example can be used by the other ministries of the Ukrainian government"


16 September, a press conference on a theme: "Strategy for the preservation and sustainable development of culture, traditions, national coloring and identity of the Crimean Tatars" organized by the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine was held at the news agency "Ukrinform".

During the event, the ways of association, socialization, and preservation of the ethnicity of the Crimean Tatars were discussed. The First Deputy Minister of information policy Emine Dzhaparova said: "It is extremely important that there is another ministry after MIP, which introduced the post of the advisor on the Crimea matters. This should serve as an example to others. The protection of the Crimean Tatars culture, their integration into the Ukrainian and world cultural discourse are the elements of protection of the indigenous people from the number of harassments and repressions under the occupation".

Eskender Bariev, a member of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, reported on the development of mechanisms on cultural, social, informational and economic reintegration of the Crimean peninsula after its de-occupation: "According to the paragraph 10 of article 112 on the establishment of an effective mechanism of protection of the rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities, a plan of actions for implementation National strategy on human rights for the period up to 2020 was developed, and which was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by resolution on 23.09.2015. Pursuant to  this plan, the Ministry of culture was instructed to develop a draft bill on the rights of indigenous peoples, in its framework, the joint activity and public discussion with the Majlis, MIP and representatives of society are planned to take place".

Svitlana Fomenko, the First Deputy Minister of culture of Ukraine, confirmed Bariev's words on the work of relevant draft bill and said: "Two years ago the state enterprise "Crimean house" was launched. Unfortunately, today there is no active work of this organization, although we hoped that it would become the cultural, educational center of the life of the Crimean Tatar people. However, in October we plan to announce the competition for the position of head of the state enterprise "Crimean home", thus giving the governmental impetus to the development of this enterprise, which would become the heart of the unity of the Crimean Tatar people".

Esma Adzhieva, recently appointed Advisor to the Minister of culture of Ukraine, coordinator of the "Patterns of the world" project presented her project: "This year in Kyiv with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for development and cooperation, we were able to create jobs for craftsmen working with jewelry metals, in the technique of the Crimean Tatar filigree, and who are experts in the unique Crimean Tatar embroidery, ceramics. These young Crimean Tatars teachers teach this art to children, and together we are working on the renewal of a large collection of applied art, which includes household items, clothing, jewelry, and metalwork of the Crimean Tatars. The results of our work will be presented later.

Participants of the press conference were: Emine Dzhaparova - First Deputy Minister of information policy of Ukraine; Svitlana Fomenko - First Deputy Minister of culture of Ukraine; Esma Adzhieva - Advisor to the Minister of culture of Ukraine, coordinator of the project "Patterns of the world" which is implemented with the financial support of SDC (Swiss Agency for development and cooperation); Eskender Bariev - a member of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

We will remind that on August 9, 2016, in the framework of the communication campaign to the Day of indigenous peoples, the presentation of the Crimean Tatars public diplomacy strategy, developed by a team of experts, took place.
