Support for journalists
Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine considers the protection of rights for receiving, accessing and spreading information to be one of its main objectives
Deputy Minister of Information Policy Tetiana Popova is engaged in the implementation of the pilot “Embedded journalism” project (journalists’ attachment to military units).
Realizing the importance of providing society and the international community with objective and impartial information on the progress of anti-terrorist operations and trying to provide the best possible access to information to the media on the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the course of ATO, the leaders of the media, media representatives (journalists, photo, video reporter, etc.) and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will sign the respective agreements to introduce media representatives to the military units of the Armed Forces to fulfill their editorial duties and provide the media coverage of the respective military units.
The provisions of the document are being agreed with the working group of representatives of the media and international news agencies and media lawyers. The general Staff of the Armed Forces approved four directions for the introduction of military-trained journalists in military units on a rotational basis. A certificate of completion of military journalist training and life insurance will be mandatory requirements for participation in the project.
